Safety workshop
About the Workshop
This self-defense workshop is a six-hour course designed to teach self-defensive skills on increased awareness, confidence and safety. This class is taught in two sessions, each three hours. For women and girls ages 16 and older.
The workshop will cover:
Situational awareness
The importance of intuition and bias
Passive, assertive, & aggressive behavior and communication
Boundary setting
Domestic Violence and trafficking in America
Understanding our bodies fight, flight, and freeze response
De-escalation techniques
Verbal self-defense
Physical self-defense
This workshop is regularly taught at the Mid-Willamette YMCA. If you are interested in hosting private a class, please email contact@arketa.org. We can come to your choice of venue such as an office, church, or club in the Willamette Valley. We want all women and girls to have this class available to them so scholarships are available upon request!
